Breakwater is a not-for-profit organization (501-c3) which relies on voluntary financial support to sustain and enhance its programs. As with most independent schools, the full cost of a Breakwater education is not covered completely by tuition and fees. All families – past and present – are asked to support the Annual Fund which plays a critical role in bridging the gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of operating the School. The Annual Fund supports every facet of the School’s operation including faculty compensation and professional development, all programs, and financial aid.

You are invited to offer preference for how you would like your gift to be used to support current operations. It is important to note that the following designations are budget relieving and not budget enhancing.

Breakwater’s Strategic Priorities
Help cover the costs of general institutional needs guided by the 2009-2010 School Goals adopted by the Board of Trustees.

Faculty Support & Professional Development
Breakwater’s extraordinary program depends on recruiting and retaining dedicated, passionate, and skilled faculty. Your gift here will provide essential resources to support and sustain this amazing team.

Financial Aid
Gifts to support financial aid allow a broad range of families to benefit from a Breakwater education, and are essential to enriching our vibrant community.

Facilities & Grounds
A beautiful and safe environment promotes creative and engaged learning. Your support in this area helps maintain and enhance our Brighton Avenue campus and the Jessie Bullins-Crewe Nature Preserve.

In addition to the Unrestricted Annual Fund, Breakwater seeks charitable support for our endowment and an ever-evolving list of special projects. The School is fortunate to receive generous gifts each year from parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, foundations, and friends of the School.
