Scholarship Opportunities. Students attending a Portland Public School in grades 3-6 are eligible for up to $1,000 in scholarship funds for summer camps. Summer Champs, the scholarship voucher program, is administered by the United Way through the generosity of the Libra Foundation and may be used at Breakwater Summer Programs.
To apply, a student needs to obtain an application from his or her teacher, complete it, and deliver it to the school principal. Vouchers are awarded on the basis of attendance, behavior and effort in school, as well as community service involvement. Scholarships are awarded regardless of family income. For more information, contact your principal's office, or the United Way, or visit their website.
Breakwater Summer Programs offers a limited number of full and partial scholarships. Please contact the Summer Programs office at 207.772.8689 extension 226 for a Scholarship application.
