At Breakwater, we know what a big step it is for both you and your child to be moving beyond the world you have so thoughtfully and lovingly created at home. As Director of Breakwater’s Early Childhood Division, my job is to support teachers and parents in assuring that every child in our toddler, preschool, and Kindergarten classrooms feels safe and free to grow at his or her own pace in these important first years of school. Our early childhood teachers are early childhood experts who understand that each child is following a unique path. Together with parents, they work to create a safe and inspiring learning environment that nurtures each child’s curiosity, creativity, and sense of wonder. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, our teaching practice and curriculum are child-centered, play-based, and developmentally appropriate. Our classrooms are arranged to gently foster children’s growing independence while offering support and guidance when they aren’t quite ready to do things on their own. We feel honored to share these formative years with your child and your family. Please visit our school, observe our inspiring classrooms, and talk to us about your hopes and expectations for your child’s first years in school. Molly Thompson |
